On January 22, the partnership between AVReQ and the Wasatia Graduate School for Peace and Conflict Resolution was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement establishes a strategic international partnership aimed at advancing collaborative research, postgraduate education, and academic exchange in the fields of transgenerational legacies of violence and the important quest for repair and lasting peace in these contexts.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at The Manor House of Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS). Representing Stellenbosch University were Prof. Sibusiso Moyo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Internationalisation; Prof. Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela, Director of AVReQ and South African Research Chair (SARChI) in Violent Histories and Transgenerational Trauma; and Dr Anell Daries, Lecturer, AVReQ.
Europa-Universität Flensburg was represented by Prof. Dr. Ralf Wüstenberg, Director of the European Wasatia Graduate School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Dr. Zeina Barakat, Executive Director of the European Wasatia Graduate School for Peace and Conflict Resolution.
