As part of AVReQ’s Orientation Program, SARChI Chair young researchers went on a walking tour of the Stellenbosch University Campus. The tour guided by Township and Village, focuses on the visual redress project of the university. A project aimed at bringing Africa’s centrality to the campus and to make it a representative, welcoming and inspiring environment for all South Africans.

The young researchers critically reflected on the changes made in the university’s visual environment and culture that ought to promote restitution, inclusivity, and institutional cohesion. Furthermore, the tour offered a look at the changes and creative additions to the campus in an attempt to address the much-needed calls for transformation and decolonisation of the campus.
