AVReQ invites you to the Homi Bhabha Workshop, where we will closely read and discuss Frantz Fanon’s Black Skin, White Masks. This workshop offers an opportunity for scholars and researchers in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, including postdoctoral fellows, to engage robustly with Fanon’s classic work while fostering collaboration and critical dialogue in a closed space with Homi Bhabha and with peers.

Format: The 2024 Fanon AVReQ Workshop features a format designed to foster engagement and meaningful discussions on Frantz Fanon’s text, its enduring relevance, and what tools Fanon might offer student leaders in contemporary South Africa. The panel of speakers will kick off with short 5-8-minute opening statements on specific topics, sections of chapters from the Fanon text, or themes within the text and present The workshop is by invitation only and will be attended by faculty staff, postgraduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to enhance the diversity of intellectual perspectives and scholarly expertise.
